Famous Last Words: Almost There

I started out really strong in this class, and for that I’m so thankful. It’s definitely paying off right now! It seems that as the semester comes to a close, I’m flying through course work for other classes, struggling to stay afloat. That’s not to say that I’m doing bad in any class, because I’ve actually had a good semester (in good standing) for all classes thus far. I am trying to prepare myself for the next weeks to come. I’m preparing for very little sleep, a lot of stress, and a lot of work of course! But, isn’t that how it is nearing finals for every college student?

For this class in particular, I have been having a hard time with the assignments due early in the week. I have lab on Tuesday/Thursday’s, and we’re doing an independent project in there that requires me to be extremely prepared. Along with that, I have to work different days now at work, and some of those being Monday/Wednesday’s week to week, including my regular schedule.
I guess I’m just trying to pull through in all of my classes, and this is the only one that I have any sort of leeway with missing assignments.

As far as enjoyment goes, I’ve honestly enjoyed ALL of the reading for this class. I’ve really enjoyed the recent fairy tale units, because they are my absolute favorite! I’ve also enjoyed all the coursework in my other classes. I can finally understand how exciting it is to be in your upper division classes that are related to your major.

Anyways,

we are so close to the end of the semester that it’s a tad bit frightening! I plan to find time for the early week assignments (ahead of time), and finish as strong as I started the semester.

  1. Erratic sleep schedules are the eternal struggles of college students, Chelle; people do not know struggle until they work until 2 a.m. at the latest and get only four or five hours of sleep a day. It’s quite humbling, in a way, since it builds productive habits.

Full workloads are a thing, too, as there might be an assignment on your schedule that conflicts with another, but it helps build time management skills. I finish what I can early, but I also want to make time for goofing off in the moment, since all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

While college is a stressful adjustment with lots of changes from teenage life, I’m certain at one point you’ll think that it’s all for the better, and that you’ll hopefully treasure the opportunity you’re given.

  2. Congratulations on starting out super strong with the semester! I wish I had done the same. I had a rough start getting settled at the beginning of the semester. I really wish that I had done that in this class. It would have been nice to be done with this class and turn my focus to other classes several weeks ago.

  3. Girl, I feel you!! I have been straight struggle bussing the past week or two. Now that its almost thanksgiving break I know that I will be pulling my teeth to get assignments and projects completed. End of the semesters are always rough, but make sure you get some sleep and don’t stress too much!! Make sure to at least take a break once a day to do something you enjoy, even if its only for like 10 minutes! It really does make all the difference. Keep it up! You’re almost done 🙂
